You’re staff – not a temporary worker

We like to make sure our staff know that, with us, they’re staff – not temporary workers. It may sometimes require adaption and a break with, how things are elsewhere.

Micky Malling is a consultant for Viktech and acts as the primary contact person for carpenter Jacob Jacobsen. Jacob had been employed by various temp agencies when he started working for Viktech almost 12 months ago. And on nearly every occasion he tried being “in” one week and “out” the next.

“When Jacob started working for us, he was very concerned about when he’d lose his job. I was at great pains to point out to him that he wouldn’t lose his job. I told him he’d be working on a job for a month and then I’d have a new project for him,” says Micky Malling.

One of the gang

Over time, Jacob gradually developed the right mindset. He realised that when you work for Viktech, you’re staff, one of the gang, part of the community. He’s now handed responsibility over to Micky. This gives him peace of mind as regards the job he’s working on, and he can be certain that something new will be waiting for him when he’s finished that job.

“Jacob is a good man. He has years of experience, and he’s very easy to work with. He’s the kind of guy who knows the ropes. He does a great job and comes across really well. He’s flexible and honest and focuses on solutions. He’s a really genuine guy, and I’m happy to send him out to our customers.”

As a consultant, you forge close links and do everything in your power to make sure that staff and customers are all happy.

“We always turn up on site when one of our workers is starting a job, and we drop in on the third day as well. That’s when we ask whether everything is okay with our worker. Whether they’re happy and have everything they need. Of course, we also take the opportunity for a quick chat with the customer as well: we ask whether the person we’ve sent gives them the skills and experience they were expecting,” explains Micky Malling.

While a job is in progress, Micky and the other Viktech consultants drop in at regular intervals to follow up on what’s happening and make sure everything is going as intended.
